In October 2016, I received news from the BLAKE that my scholarship application had been successful for the 2016 Antarctic Blake Ambassador.
With the support of the BLAKE, Antarctica New Zealand, and the Antarctic Heritage Trust, I spent six weeks on Ross Island conserving Sir Edmond Hillary’s Hut back to its original state for the 60th anniversary of Scott Base.

Over the next six weeks I am going to be working alongside with the Antarctic Heritage Trust, helping out with their on-going projects. I cannot wait to dive into this life-changing and eye-opening adventure ahead, and take on all the amazing opportunities and challenges over the next month.

The view, the landscape, the experience was incredible!! I allowed my eyes to adjust, taking in the spectacular landscape that surrounded me. The surreal panorama of icy skyscrapers stretching to the horizon is like nothing else I have seen before.
